This episode depicts Krishna and his companion Arjuna advancing together, riding an elephant while accompanied by numerous horsemen, musicians, a palanquin and a group of courtesans. Two devanagari inscriptions indicate their names
On the protective folio of the painting an old ink inscription reads “Sri Krishna reaches Dwarka in this glory of victory to win Rukmani against numerous odds”.
Different literary sources narrate the story of Krishna, such as the Bhagavad Gita or the Bhagavata Purana.
